as always~ there were parts I loved and can't wait to watch over and over..and then there were parts I wanted to just close my eyes and make them go away.
Edward's flashback~ love anything old-timey and Edward, though I felt it was a bit off-putting in it's placement, being on the night before their wedding. I got all nostalgic when I saw Bella's room all packed up. Emmett and Jasper jumping to the window to get Edward for his bachelor party..good lord. I don't want to offend anyone- and I know it was true to the book- but those two couldn't act their way out of a paper bag. Then her dream- Edward in the white tux, bloody bodies piled under the altar- that was campy as hell-but the B-movie horror geek in me loved how over-the-top it was.
The wedding..the epic LONG walk down the aisle..it reminded me of the Twilight first kiss scene in it's timing. I loved Bella's transformation from panic attack to determination as she saw Edward. I also LOVED the Iron and Wine song placement and the E/B vows, the camera placement, along with that song playing took me right back to the prom scene of Twilight and deepened the whole thing for me.
The only thing I could have done without was the Stephanie Meyer cameo-that was just akward for me. I did however actually cry when Bella said goodbye to Charlie right before leaving for the honeymoon which shocked the hell out of me. I have waited for a scene to make me cry-god knows I cried reading the books often-but the movies have always been so emotionally-void, and left me wanting that..so I was actually glad Bill Condon got that out for me lol, thanks bill.
The honeymoon~ done so well. I'll always want more as I am an adult and not 13, but it was done well. The cracked headboard. the feathers. and I loved the morning after- so true to the books. The chess board was a cute shout-out to the book cover. and of course I couldn't have loved Bella prancing around in the black nightie anymore-just great. The dream/begging scene-was glad that they went there even with the PG rating. I was afraid we wouldn't get that and I always felt that was important...and hot.
Bella's decent into pregnancy was done very well. I loved her drinking the blood for the first time and was so glad to have the Edward "I'm being an asshole" speech included, though it wasn't true to the books- I was relieved. I kept thinking all these weak-ass men surrounding her-Jacob huffing and puffing(pun intended) and Edward brooding and basically abandoning her-I felt so sad for Bella but admired her resolve. I was suprised because I didn't feel this way reading the book, I think because by then I was so jaded and pissed at SM for making a baby..anyhow*
The birth scene, I can't say enough- Edward biting through her uterus*check. Bella appearing to be dead*check. The transformation, the veins and venom and blood and biological scenes...I loved this. I think this was the absolute best way it could have been handled.Jesus, Edward with the pleading and calling her Baby, touching her face *gush. finally we hear him love her...*sigh.
My ABSOLUTE FAVORITE SCENE was her series of flashbacks prior to the red-eye wake up- that was really neat. all my favorite scenes from all the movies. and I was finally able to get past that Bill Condon didn't include a slow-motion Edward walking scene in the beginning of this movie-because we got to see my favorite one of all- when that cafeteria door opened and we see him for the first time from the 1st movie. That was amazing and I could watch him walk through that cafeteria door on a loop for the rest of my life and it wouldn't be enough-so yea, I forgave Bill in that moment for not giving us one in the fist 5 minutes of this movie lol
most all wolf scenes-but omg, the wolfs talking in their wolf forms all scooby-doo style. WTF? In the theater-there was a HUGE laugh. I was wishing my seat would swallow me up. That was just...wrong.I know it was true to the book but to translate that to the screen...I wish they would have had them go back to their human forms- it was so bad.
and of course, the imprinting- though done well I could have done without the Renesmee as an adult scenes. that was strange. and that baby- it's eyes..the 2nd part is definitely going to be interesting.
All in all, I will go see it many more times and I was so giddy to see our whole movie theater was PACKED, like we had to park at WalFart because that's how many people were there that's happiness* It felt nice to be a part of the excitement with so many other Twilight enthusiasts, to share something that is so dear to my heart.
